Whats in a name? Everything. Whereas your logo, colors, packaging, etc. dictate the visual identity of your brand, the name lays the foundation on which upon the entire brand is built. The name you choose will build a customer's association with your product as well as your company. Therefore, your brand must convey the quality of your product/company. It must also be memorable. When a name is used in business it must be unique, creative, and powerful enough to stick with the customer. You must be the first name that your customer thinks of the moment they decide they need your product/service. Once you've achieved that goal, you've won. The competition will have to work twice as hard to win the sale. Pepsi products routinely win taste tests over Coca Cola, and yet Coca Cola product always outsell Pepsi. Why, branding... name recognition... association.
Initially you will want to sit down and brainstorm. Write down a list of names. Write down every name you can think of whether you like them at first or not. Once you've run out of ideas completely, go back through and carefully review each name. Eliminate names you don't like at this point. Once you have narrowed the list down to 5 or 10 potential names, stop eliminating. The next stage in the process is Brand Naming Market Research. This is where 3 Guesses Media comes in. We will examine your product/service, your target market, and how you can best convey your message to them. We will form a focus group comprised of the targeted segment, and ask them the right questions, so that we may narrow down your choices even further. Occasionally, clients must go back to the drawing board and recomprise a new list of names based on the feedback. 3GM can work with you throughout the entire brand naming process from strategy, research, positioning, development, and trademark registration.
